A Review of the Mobvoi Ticwatch Pro

The Mobvoi Ticwatch Pro is the premium smartwatch that’s giving the Apple watch a run for its money. All whilst saving you a lot of money at the same time.

Mobvoi Ticwatch Pro Smartwatch

We spent the past couple of weeks testing the smartwatch and the technology behind it, to see how it stands against the big leagues.

What do we think of the Ticwatch Pro?

The £220 smartwatch has the longest battery life we’ve seen on a smartwatch, and that’s thanks to the layered display technology that consists of essentially two screens. An LCD screen for your basic time display, and an AMOLED screen for all the smart stuff. This allows the watch to stay ‘charged’ up to 30 days with the LCD screen on, or 48 hours with the AMOLED. A useful feature for those who aren’t frequently using the watch to check emails or choose their music.

On first setting up the device, we have to admit there were a couple of connectivity issues. Trying to connect to the WiFi and to a mobile phone just didn’t seem to initially work. After a good few resets, surprise surprise it worked and we haven’t seen any issues since.

With the Google Wear operating system, you can expect plenty of apps to keep you healthy, productive and entertained. The Ticwatch Pro comes in-built with the Play Store which is filled with apps that prove to actually be useful. We downloaded Spotify for choosing music, Google Pay to pay for things on the go and the Browser which allows you to scroll through the internet, albeit painfully slow.

In regards to the feel of the watch and functionality, it is waterproof and dust-proof as you’d expect, along with a watch case made of carbon fiber which feels sturdy and robust. The watch has a nice weight to it, which makes you feel like you’re almost wearing an automatic. The strap that comes with the Ticwatch Pro is leather with a silicon inside grip. I have to admit it’s extremely comfortable to wear, but if the leather isn’t your style then you can easily swap it without issues since all the technology lies in in the case, unlike some other smart watches.

The circle display makes it look a lot like the Samsung Galaxy Watch. There’s definitely some similarities with how the bezel sits along with the interface of the operating system, so worth noting if you’re thinking of buying the galaxy but you’re looking for something more affordable.

Overall Review

The Ticwatch Pro is a long lasting smartwatch that feels like a genuine watch whilst acting like a smart watch. The essential mode really keeps you connected without being all too distracting with over the top visuals. For a price of £220, it’s a gift that your other half might be asking for this Christmas.
