Considered a wonder material of the world, graphene is the thinnest material in existence. It’s made up of carbon and is only one-atom thick which makes it flexible and incredibly strong (200 times stronger than steel).
So what’s it doing in a trainer? Inov-8 have used the structure and physics of graphene to create an outsole that is incredibly durable and long-lasting.
The brand teamed up with graphene experts at the University of Manchester to infuse the material into their rubber soles. These rubber outsoles in testing have outlasted 1,000 miles and are scientifically proven to be 50% harder wearing than its competitors. Typical running shoes last between 300 and 500 miles.
Inov-8 first announced its intent to revolutionise the sports footwear industry in December last year. Six months of frenzied anticipation later, inov-8 has now removed all secrecy and let the world see the game-changing G-Series range.
Three shoes make up the range:
– The F-LITE G 290 is for the crossfitters in the gym.
– The MUDCLAW G 260 is for running over muddy mountains and obstacle courses.
– The TERRAULTRA G 260 for running long distances on hard-packed trails
When it comes to style, the range probably isn’t for everyone with it’s bright green colour tones, but the comfort and unique sole of each make it worth the wardrobe malfunction.
