The heavy metal band, Metallica, are launching their own brand of whiskey and it uses a unique patent-pending process.
The upcoming spirit called ‘Blackened Whiskey‘, is the next exciting step to come out of the band Metallica. Using a patent-pending process known as ‘Black Noise’, the whiskey is made from sonic enhancement to create a unique flavour of whiskey.
This process literally uses a custom playlist of Metallica’s music during the distilling process. Each batch containing their own individual playlist.
The Black Noise Distilling Process
The distilling process involves using a large subwoofer, playing Metallica music, to shape the whiskey inside the barrel. The vibrations from the subwoofer supposedly change the whiskey’s molecular structure and causes “increased wood interaction that kicks up the wood-flavor characteristics in the whiskey.”
The idea came from a collaboration between the band and bourbon industry legend David Pickerell. David Pickerell is well-known in the field whilst being a former master distiller at Maker’s Mark.
